Walking

Do you often walk in your daily life?

Yeah, quite a lot actually. I usually walk between my classes on campus, and sometimes I’ll walk to nearby shops instead of taking the bus. It’s just more convenient and helps me stay a bit active during the day.

What kind of places do you usually walk in?

Mostly around my university campus since it’s pretty spacious and pedestrian-friendly. I also like walking in parks near my dorm because they’re quieter and a good place to clear my head.

Do you prefer walking alone or with other people?

It depends on my mood. If I’ve had a long day, I prefer walking alone so I can relax and listen to music. But if I’m catching up with friends, walking together is a nice way to socialize.

How often do you go for a walk?

I’d say almost every day, mainly because of my routine. Even if I don’t plan it, walking is just part of getting around campus and running errands.

What are the benefits of walking, in your opinion?

I think it’s one of the easiest ways to stay healthy without putting in too much effort. It’s also great for reducing stress, especially after studying for hours. Mentally, it really helps me reset.

Did you walk more when you were a child than you do now?

Probably, yeah. When I was a kid, I used to play outside a lot, so I was constantly on my feet. Now I still walk regularly, but it’s more out of necessity than for fun.

Do people in your country enjoy walking? Why or why not?

I think it really depends on people’s lifestyle. Those who are more health-conscious or have active routines tend to enjoy walking, either as a form of exercise or a way to relax. On the other hand, people with busy schedules might see it as time-consuming and prefer quicker forms of transport. So overall, whether people enjoy walking or not really comes down to their daily habits and priorities.

What things can make walking more enjoyable for you?

Good weather definitely makes a big difference. Also, having a nice environment like trees or a scenic route helps. Sometimes I listen to music or podcasts, which makes it more entertaining.

Do you think walking is a good way to stay healthy?

Definitely. It’s low impact, so almost anyone can do it, and it still has clear physical and mental health benefits. It might not be intense exercise, but it’s better than being inactive.

Would you like to walk more in the future? Why?

Yeah, I would. I think as my schedule gets busier, I’ll need simple ways to stay active, and walking is perfect for that. Plus, it doesn’t require any special equipment or planning.

Do you often walk in your daily life?

Definitely. I try to weave it into my routine as much as possible. Since I live in a fairly walkable area, I usually ditch the car for short errands, like grabbing a coffee or heading to the local grocery store. It’s just easier than hunting for a parking spot, to be honest.

What kind of places do you usually walk in?

I’m lucky enough to live near a massive leafy park, so that’s my go-to spot. There’s something about being around trees and open space that really clears my head. But on weekdays, it’s mostly just urban sidewalks on my way to the train station or meeting up with friends.

Do you prefer walking alone or with other people?

It depends on my mood, really. If I’ve had a stressful day, I prefer solitary walks with a podcast or some music—it’s my “me time.” But if it’s the weekend, I love a good long trek with a friend. It’s the perfect way to catch up without the distractions of a loud café.

How often do you go for a walk?

I’d say daily, even if it’s just a quick fifteen-minute stroll to get some fresh air. On the weekends, I’m much more intentional about it; I’ll usually head out for an hour or two to properly stretch my legs and get my steps in.

What are the benefits of walking, in your opinion?

Beyond the obvious physical perks—like keeping fit—I think the mental health benefits are second to none. It’s a great way to decompress and lower your cortisol levels. Plus, it’s free! You don’t need a fancy gym membership just to move your body.

Did you walk more when you were a child than you do now?

Oh, 100%. Growing up, I was always outdoors, whether I was walking to school or just roaming around the neighborhood with my siblings. Nowadays, life is a bit more sedentary since I spend a lot of time behind a desk, so I have to make a conscious effort to stay active.

Do people in your country enjoy walking? Why or why not?

It’s a bit of a mixed bag. In the big cities, you see people walking everywhere because it’s often faster than sitting in traffic. However, in more rural areas, people tend to rely on their cars because things are so spread out. That said, hiking has become incredibly trendy lately, so you see a lot of people hitting the trails on weekends.

What things can make walking more enjoyable for you?

A killer playlist is a must-have for me—it sets the tempo. I also think the environment plays a huge role; I’m much more likely to walk further if the scenery is nice or if there’s a scenic route I can take. Oh, and comfortable shoes! There’s nothing worse than getting a blister halfway through.

Do you think walking is a good way to stay healthy?

Absolutely. It’s often underrated because it’s low impact, but it’s fantastic for cardiovascular health. It’s sustainable, too. Unlike high-intensity workouts that can lead to burnout, walking is something you can do well into your old age.

Would you like to walk more in the future? Why?

I’d love to. I’ve actually been thinking about doing some long-distance trekking, maybe even a coastal walk over a few days. I think it’s a great way to see the world at a slower pace and really soak in the surroundings instead of just rushing from point A to point B.
