Describe a happy person you know

I’d like to talk about one of my closest friends, Jake, who’s probably one of the happiest people I know.

We’ve been friends for a couple of years now, and what I really like about him is that he’s incredibly easygoing. He’s the kind of person who can walk into a room full of strangers and strike up a conversation without making things awkward. He’s also got a great sense of humour, so he’s always making people laugh.

One thing I like about Jake is that he’s pretty easy to please. He’s just as happy spending an evening playing video games with friends as he is going out somewhere special. He’s also quite laid-back when things go wrong. He might complain about a bad day, of course, but he usually gets over it pretty quickly rather than letting it ruin his mood.

As for how he shows his happiness, it’s mainly through his facial expressions and the way he interacts with people. He’s got this really infectious laugh, and when he’s excited about something, he talks with his hands and his whole face lights up. Even something as simple as getting good news or trying a new restaurant can put him in a great mood. What’s nice is that he doesn’t keep that happiness to himself. He naturally lifts other people’s spirits, so you tend to feel more cheerful when you’re around him.

I think the main reason he’s such a happy person is that he doesn’t spend too much time comparing himself with others. Social media can make it seem like everyone’s living a better life than you are, but Jake doesn’t really get caught up in that. He knows what matters to him, values his friendships, and doesn’t feel the need to compete with everyone around him.

So, overall, I’d say Jake is genuinely happy because he’s learned not to sweat the small stuff and to enjoy the good things he already has. I think that’s something a lot of us could learn from.

The first person who springs to mind when I think of someone genuinely happy is actually my older sister, Maya. She’s in her late twenties, lives in the same city as me, and works as a freelance graphic designer.

As for what she’s like, Maya is just one of those wonderfully warm, easygoing people who instantly puts you at ease. She doesn’t take life too terribly seriously, but she’s still really passionate about her work and cares deeply about her friends and family. What I admire most about her is how unflappable she is—she has this amazing knack for staying calm and collected, even when work gets super chaotic or things don’t go according to plan.

When it comes to showing her happiness, it’s not that she’s super loud or bouncing off the walls all day. It’s more in her everyday energy and tiny habits. She’s always humming to herself while pottering around her apartment, and she gets genuinely excited over the smallest things—like finding a cute local café, making herself a really good cup of coffee in the morning, or keeping her balcony plants alive. She’s also a fantastic listener; when you talk to her, she really listens and makes you feel heard, and she’s got this lighthearted sense of humor that just brightens up the room.

I think the main reason she’s so content is her outlook on life. She doesn’t get caught up in comparing herself to others on social media or constantly trying to chase the next big milestone. She knows what makes her tick, values her peace of mind, and actually makes time for the simple things she loves. Instead of always worrying about what’s next, she’s really good at appreciating what she has. Honestly, I think that’s her secret.
