Describe a piece of technology you would like to own in the future

You should say: what the technology is, what it would be used for, how easy or difficult it would be to use, and why you would like to own it.

If I could own any piece of technology in the future, I’d really like to have a lightweight augmented reality headset — something similar to the Apple Vision Pro, but more affordable and designed specifically for students.

As a university student, I spend most of my day either attending lectures, studying in the library, or working on assignments. I think this kind of device would be incredibly useful for academic purposes. For example, instead of staring at a laptop screen for hours, I could project multiple virtual screens in front of me while researching or writing essays. It would also be amazing for interactive learning — imagine being able to view 3D models during science or engineering lectures, or virtually “walk through” historical landmarks in a history class.

In terms of usability, I think it might be slightly challenging at first. New technology always takes time to get used to, especially something immersive like augmented reality. However, since most people my age are already comfortable with smartphones, tablets, and laptops, I don’t think the learning curve would be too steep. Once I got familiar with the controls and gestures, it would probably feel quite intuitive.

The main reason I’d want to own it is productivity. University life can be overwhelming, and staying organized is a constant struggle. If this device could help me manage my schedule, visualize complex concepts, and reduce distractions, it would make studying more efficient and maybe even more enjoyable. On top of that, I think it would make learning feel more engaging rather than repetitive or tiring.

So overall, I wouldn’t want it just because it’s trendy or futuristic, but because it could genuinely support my academic goals and make student life a bit easier.

If I had to choose a piece of technology I’d like to own in the future, it would probably be a fully autonomous electric car — something like a next-generation self-driving vehicle.

What really appeals to me is the idea that the car could drive entirely on its own without me having to focus on the road. I’d mainly use it for commuting to work, visiting my family in other cities, and maybe even for road trips with friends. I spend a lot of time driving every week, and honestly, traffic can be exhausting. So being able to relax, read, or even get some work done while the car handles everything would be a huge upgrade to my daily routine.

In terms of difficulty, I imagine it would be quite easy to use. From what I’ve seen with companies like Tesla, the interface is becoming more user-friendly every year. I assume you’d just enter your destination, confirm a few safety settings, and the system would take care of the rest. Of course, there might be a learning curve at the beginning, especially when it comes to trusting the technology, but overall, I think it would be pretty straightforward.

The main reason I’d want to own it is convenience and safety. Human error causes most traffic accidents, so theoretically, autonomous driving could reduce that risk. On top of that, it would give me back valuable time. As a young professional trying to balance work, personal goals, and social life, having extra time during my commute would make a noticeable difference. It’s not just about owning something futuristic — it’s more about improving my quality of life in a practical way.

So for me, a fully autonomous car isn’t just impressive technology; it’s something that could genuinely make everyday life smoother and less stressful.
